Much in the same way that iPhone applications have allowed consumers to personalize their mobile experience by downloading a seemingly endless variety of tools and games, Salesforce.com's AppExchange has revolutionized CRM by allowing businesses to customize their business solutions with a wide variety of downloadable enhancements. The Salesforce AppExchange currently offers more than 700 applications, many of which are industry specific. Offerings range from sales and marketing to business and finance.

But with so many apps to choose from, which are the best? Salesforce.com blessed the following apps as "The Best of 2008" based on customer reviews:

EchoSign was voted Best Contract Management app. EchoSign automatically signs, tracks and files the contract instantaneously.

DataTrim Dupe Alerts was voted Best Data Cleansing Tool. DataTrim was developed by d2b international and is designed to find duplicate records in your database. The matching documents are shown inside your database and offer the option to merge, delete or convert into alternate data.

Genius Pro was voted Best Demand Generation App. This application is specifically designed for email marketing and sales intelligence. Genius Pro allows for the marketing department to control the campaigns while sales reps receive desktop alerts to the most promising leads.

Conga Merge was voted Best Document Management Application. This application, developed by AppExtremes, has the ability to create Word, Excel or PDF documents from fields with multiple objects. It will also combine a wide range of documents from mail merge letters and labels to master detail layouts including graphics and signatures.

Ribbit was voted Best Mobile App. With Ribbit you can merge landline and wireless voice communications with a variety of different communication forms, including CRM, email, SMS and instant messaging. Phone calls and voicemail will now flow into the CRM network so users can access and respond to all messages from one location.
